Hong Kong Marine Police

Hong Kong Marine Police has purchased the world largest and most advanced digital trunked radio system from Nokia utilizing the TETRA system (Trans-European Trunked Radio) protocol standard. WesTel was responsible to provide, install, test, commission and integrate the necessary hardware and software to form an interface to the ECACCS (Enhanced Computer Assisted Command and Control System) used by the Hong Kong Police for the radio communications for the police force. The interface must meet the functional, technical and design specifications in the police tender document. The purpose of the interface is to provide data information to the ECACCS to facilitate resource management. WesTel has designed an ECACCS Interface Computer System (EIC) which is a mission critical, fully redundant and real time system interface to meet the sophisticated protocol conversion requirements of the Hong Kong Police. The function of the EIC is to enable the identity (ID) of a transmitting mobile radio in the TETRA system to be forwarded to the ECACCS system and vice versa. This allows operators using ECACCS terminals access to caller identification functions similar to that available on the TETRA DWS (dispatcher workstation).
