Air Cargo Terminals in Hong Kong Airport

A hybrid wireless data system with a total of 45 multiple radio sites has been installed in the air cargo terminals for their air cargo operation in the new Chek Lap Kok Airport. The hybrid system is a combination of UHF wireless data sub-system as well as a Spread Spectrum Technology ( SST ) 2.4GHz wireless LAN sub-system. The UHF wireless data system is operating on two radio frequency channels with four roof top radio sites and 14 indoor radio sites providing an ubiquitous outdoor and in-premises coverage. There are 31 wireless LAN base stations installed throughout the entire air cargo terminal building extending the LAN's high-speed data communications link to all the transfer vehicles within the air cargo terminal buildings. The wireless data system is integrated together with the automatic dispatch system of the field workers as well as machine automation control.
